It’s that time of year folks, the snow is gone and the bugs are going to begin popping. For the ones that have followed us from day one you know we have a thing for chasing after wild fish. Although after a long winter we need to get a little crazy to fill that void of not fishing. This is why we go after stockies. Sometimes my inspiration to write posts are from key things that stick out to me from a trip. You know, that crazy experience that happens and you just run with it. Other times I look at the pictures or videos after the trip and realize, let the footage do the talking. With that being said, B.C.I had a great time in the Allegheny National Forest/Pennsylvania Wilds stripping and ripping farm fresh brookies. Now we did have to go searching for Mr. Wild Hog Johnson and though we did not find him but we did get into a few of his grandkids. Enjoy
Even stocked trout can identify bugs and know they can be appetizing although we always throw fake ones.
It can be really busy on the water on opening day but B.C.I can hang especially when you know everyone around. Steve-O was rocking that bamboo “above” while Logan truly broke in that custom-built rod “below”.
We hit the water early and I was surprised considering the night we had before. We put our time in and it payed of as we ventured out of sight of people/road and into water that many people would pass up. HAHA not B.C.I we turned the bend where Steve-O and I had good fortunate in the pass and wouldn’t you know it, HAM BONE.
We thought that run was good well we found a better one.
After having many double hook-ups, a couple triples, and 20 plus fish to hand Steve-O had to thank the fish Gods by giving his own thanks, Tebow who?
Obviously, all fish were released and hopefully another angler can enjoy the same experience, god willing they have a fly rod in hand and are chucking bugs.
The picture above is a released stocked Brook Trout from a stream in the Allegheny National Forest. The picture below is of a Wild Brown from location X,
This buck was nice but didn’t have the red markings like the one below.
It was a great weekend to start the Spring season off and we would like to thank every fish including the one below that made our weekend a Ham Bone weekend.
and this one as well….
It was good to hit some small stream but my concentration will begin very soon on big water known as the Yuck!
